About Priya Chaudhry
A career criminal defense attorney, Ms. Chaudhry has handled all types of criminal matters, ranging from the most sophisticated white-collar cases to murder. Ms. Chaudhry has tried over 20 criminal jury trials and has extensive experience in federal and state criminal defense. Ms. Chaudhry represents individuals in all stages of the criminal process, from internal investigation to trial, and also represents attorneys in disciplinary proceedings.
Ms. Chaudhry worked for nearly four years at Hafetz & Necheles, an elite Manhattan criminal defense boutique. While with Hafetz & Necheles, Ms. Chaudhry co-tried a four-week jury trial in New York State Supreme Court on behalf of a prominent politician accused of felony campaign finance fraud. She secured a deferred prosecution in federal court for an alien client accused of terrorism-related flight interference, convincing the government not to deport her client and to dismiss the case against him. Ms. Chaudhry similarly helped secure a downward departure to a sentence of probation for an individual accused by federal prosecutors of participating in an international fraud. She has represented individuals charged with money laundering, rape, RICO, bank fraud, possession of child pornography, larceny, sophisticated art fraud, market timing, securities fraud, assault, insurance fraud, solicitation of a minor via the internet, health care fraud, and murder. In preparing the strongest defense for her clients, Ms. Chaudhry extensively and thoroughly reviews and analyzes extremely complex evidence such as computer and securities records, business and financial records, forensic evidence, ballistic evidence, telephone recordings, and cell phone tracking data.
Ms. Chaudhry previously worked for The Defender Association in Seattle, Washington, where she represented defendants in both misdemeanor and serious felony criminal cases. Through aggressive advocacy and thorough preparation, Ms. Chaudhry secured exceptional results for her clients.
Ms. Chaudhry received her undergraduate degree from the University of California at Berkeley and is a graduate of Northwestern University School of Law. She is fluent in Hindi and Urdu.
